Extension Activity Support System (EASY): A Web-Based Prototype for Facilitating Farm Management
The seventh of a series of papers as part of a special issue of the Open Access Journal Future Internet on the theme “Internet and Landscapes“, as edited by the ISPRS Working II/6 on Geographical Visualization and Virtual Reality (Chris Pettit and Arzu Coltekin) has now been published by Kim Lowell, Ian Miller, Chris Pettit, and Eloise Seymour. This paper examines how online mapping can support agricultural extension activities. The specifications of a web based Extension Activity Support System (EASY) tool were determined through a consultative process run through a series of workshops with experts and end users. This paper discusses the conceptual technical design and business models that have been specified to support a fully functional spatially enabled online farming tool.
