Visualisation and the Future of Integrated Modeling Science and Technology

The International Journal on Environmental Modelling and Software has recently published a Thematic Issue on the Future of Integrated Modelling Science and Technology. In this issue there are a couple of papers from members of our ISPRS working group. Specifically, Gustavo Arcinegas et al. ¬†has published his results on the effectiveness of collaborative map-based decision support tools where an interactive mapping device is used as the interface between spatial information and participants. Marcos Nino-Ruiz et al. introduces a spatial model steering approach for raising the awareness of uncertainty inherent in the land use allocation process where visualisation is used for enabling end users exploring a range of “what if” ¬†futre land use scenarios. It is good to see visualisation influencing the future of integrated modelling science and technology.
