Using Google Earth to Visualise Climate Change Impacts

This Google Earth site provides an exciting application of the virtual globe platform for exploring likely climate change impacts and possible climate adaptation futures ahead of the UN’s climate conference in Copenhagen in December (COP15). The first of the 5 narrated virtual tours provides an introduction by Al Gore and the remaining 4 tours enable you to explore a number of climate change related issues such as the impact of deforestation and subsequent increased carbon dioxide emissions. Also available from this site are some downloadable (kmz) IPCC climate predictions for low, medium and high emissions scenarios. Through these you can explore predicted changes in global decadal annual mean temperature and rainfall from 2000-2090.
